Biographical
Sketch
Ann Funk graduated from the University of Kansas on a 4-year scholarship with BA degrees in criminology and psychology, was a distinguished graduate of four AF courses, and earned an MA in criminology from George Washington University . She also earned an MS in clinical psychology from Florida State University and completed all but dissertation requirements for a PhD, to include a clinical psychology internship at Wright Patterson AFB OH. She served in the USAF 23 years, both stateside and overseas. In the communications-electronics field (4 years), she held operations, maintenance, and staff positions, supervising 70 personnel, 15 companies, and 6 locations. She was cited as the most promising young officer in Europe , and two of her facilities were rated best in DoD. In the special investigations field (19 years), she held a variety of command, operations, and headquarters positions spanning the criminal, fraud, and counterintelligence spectrum. Honors included USAF team of the year (2004); outstanding AF Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) team of the year (2002), AFOSI agent of the year (1991), and AFOSI large detachment of the year (1987) awards; and praise from Congress, DoD, and national-level customers. Ann attended Air Command & Staff College and Squadron Officer School in residence, and her decorations include the Meritorious Service, Commendation, Achievement, and National Defense Service Medals and the Outstanding Unit and Organizational Excellence Awards. After retiring from the AF, she returned to FSU to begin a new dissertation project, and is currently focusing on homework compliance and its effect upon anxiety reduction and smoking cessation. She was born in California but grew up in the Canal Zone, while her husband of 24 years hails from Pennsylvania . He is also a retired AF officer. They have a 20-year-old son, Gregory.
