I'm a 5th-year graduate student in social psychology at Florida State University. My advisors are Roy F. Baumeister and Dianne M. Tice.
I am fascinated by the human mind and in particular by what makes it so unique. Despite having evolved from other animals, humans boast a suite of mental faculties – including the capacities to exert self-control, reason logically, and plan for the future – that separates them from even their closest phylogenetic relatives. I seek to understand how those faculties function and what purpose they serve. I am also interested in examining the limitations of the conscious, controlled system, including its narrow focal capacity and its reliance on physiological resources.
