March 2006: As a part of FSU Learning Disabilities Research Center Grant, Dr. Christopher Lonigan (PI) was awarded a five-year grant of $1.5 million from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (06/2006 - 05/2011) for a research study entitled, "Preschool Classification and Prevention of Reading Disabilities."

March 2006: Dr. Christopher Lonigan (PI) was awarded a supplemental grant of $147,390 from the Institute of Education Sciences, United States Department of Education for the research study entitled, "Evaluating the Effectiveness of Preschool Literacy Curriculum."

February 2006: Dr. Christopher Lonigan (PI) was awarded a four-year grant of $3.0 million from the Institute of Education Sciences, United States Department of Education (06/2006 - 05/2010) for a research study entitled, "A Randomized Trial of Preschool Instructional Strategies to Improve School Performance and Reduce Use of Special Education."

October 2005: Dr. Christopher Lonigan (PI) was awarded a five-year grant of $2.54 million from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (10/2005 - 09/2010) for a research study entitled, "Preschool Curricula: Outcomes and Developmental Processes."

August 2005: Jessica McQueen, David Purpura, and Shauna Wilson joined the clinical graduate program as students in the Lonigan Lab.

June 2005: Dr. Christopher Lonigan (PI/PD) was awarded a four-year grant of $705,628 from the Institute of Education Sciences, United States Department of Education (07/2005 - 08/2009) for an interdisciplinary postdoctoral training program in "Education Science."

February 2005: Dr. Christopher Lonigan was named the Principle Investigator for the Early Childhood Education review by the What Works Clearinghouse (see http://www.whatworks.ed.gov/).

March 2005: Dr. Christopher Lonigan was appointed to the Secretary's Advisory Committee for Head Start.

September 2004: Dr. Christopher Lonigan (PI/PD) was awarded a five-year grant of $5.0 million from the Institute of Education Sciences, United States Department of Education (08/2004 - 09/2009) for an interdisciplinary predoctoral graduate training program in "Education Science."

May 2004: Kimberly McDowell was awarded her doctorate in communication disorders and left Tallahassee to begin a new job as a faculty member at Kansas State University.

September 2003: Dr. Christopher Lonigan was promoted to full professor in the Department of Psychology at Florida State University.

July 2003: Dr. Christopher Lonigan (PI) was awarded a four-year grant of $1.7 million from the Institute of Education Sciences, United States Department of Education (07/2003 - 08/2007) to investigate "Evaluating the Effectiveness of Preschool Literacy Curriculum."

October 2001: Dr. Christopher Lonigan (Co-PI) along with Dr. JoAnn Farver (Co-PI, University of Southern California) were awarded a five-year grant (10/2001 - 09/2006) of $5.8 million from the National Science Foundation (Interagency Educational Research Initiative) to invesitgate "Enhancing Preschoolers Pre-literacy Skills."
