(2) To deflate this balloon (escape response), the rat must insert her head into the tube. If the rat fails to make an escape response in 15 sec, the balloon is deflated anyway.

No lights - nothing happening

Bottom light ON- vaginal canal being distended

Both lights ON- rat starting escape response (vaginal canal still distended)

Top light ON - rat finishing escape response (vaginal canal no longer distended)
