The Psychology Computer Classroom in PDB A108

What and where is the Psychology Computer Classroom? The new Psychology Computer Classroom was conceived as a purely instructional facility, for classes and scheduled lab sessions, and is located in room A108 of the newly constructed Psychology Building (PDB) on the west side of campus, located between the College of Medicine and the FSU track and across from Salley Hall at 1107 W. Call Street.

Who can use the Psychology Computer Classroom? Undergraduate students accepted as an upper division Psychology major and/or enrolled in Psychology classes that require its use. The facility is also available to Psychology graduate students.

When is it open? Hours change from one semester to another due to several factors, but the class schedules are posted on the A108 PDB calendar. Psychology department lecture classes use the computers as a part of their normal course work and are scheduled to meet in A108. A number of lab classes also use the classroom a few times during each semester.

What kind of computers are in the Psychology Computer Classroom? At this time, there are 35 new Dell computers and a printer available for student use.

What software is available? The following software is available for student use:

  • Word processing - Microsoft Word
  • Spreadsheet - Microsoft Excel
  • Presentation software - Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Statistical Analysis - SPSS
  • Internet browser - Microsoft Internet Explorer

Guidelines and Rules: The classroom must have some level of cooperation from the users in order to maintain the functionality and security of the computers and affiliated hardware. The following items are provided to inform students as to what they can, cannot and must do in order to use the facility.

  • Food and/or beverages are not allowed in the Psychology Computer Classroom and containers should be put in backpacks or left by the entrance door, as even an empty container gives the impression of containing something.
  • Hours of operation are dictated by availability of proctors and scheduled classes. If an instructor or one of the facilities/tech support, or main office personnel inform you that the facility is closing, then you should save what you are working on and leave immediately. It is your responsibility to know the hours of operation.
