The Arthur G. Dozier School for Boys (AGDS), in Marianna, Florida, was created by the Florida Legislature in 1900. Dozier School operates under the auspices of the Laws of the State of Florida, and the rules, regulations, and polices of the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) . This level 8 rehabilitative facility is designated to serve Florida's most serious and chronic male juveniles offenders between the ages of 12 and 20 years.
Today, Dozier School has an overall rehabilitative program which provides an integrated system of services in semi-autonomous treatment units. This treatment system used at AGDS is referred to as the Pyramid Concept, or multidisciplinary team approach and incorporates a unique collaboration of professional expertise from the Department of Juvenile Justice/Dozier School, Florida State University/Specialized Treatment Program, and the Department of Education/ Washington County School Program. Youth committed to Dozier School are provided with dynamic, state-of-the-art rehabilitation, education, and treatment services. Through this Pyramid approach, offenders can attain greater benefit in all areas of their life.

This pyramid team approach touches the offender in every facet of his daily life. All staff at AGDS are considered a vital link in the overall success of every offender from the day he is admitted until his return to the community. The Behavior Management System enhances this team approach and is designed to give offenders timely and consistent feedback regarding their behavior and progress in all areas of campus life. It allows staff to reinforce specific targeted behaviors identified during initial needs assessments as well as any current needs seen by both staff and the offender.
