Graduate Student Assistantships:
Besides
scholarships and fellowships, the Psychology Department offers
four types of assistantships for which graduate students are
eligible. Departmental Assistants (DAs) are first year graduate
students who typically assist advanced graduate students and
faculty who teach large lecture courses. Duties include assistance
with instructional activities such as grading papers, composing
examination questions, maintaining student grades, and proctoring
exams. Teaching Assistants (TAs) have primary teaching responsibility
for undergraduate lecture or laboratory courses. Research Assistants
(RAs) assist with laboratory work, running subjects, analyzing
data, designing experiments, etc. Clinical Assistantships are
available at community and campus facilities. Students provide
assessment and/or therapy services under the supervision of
licensed psychologists. Assistantships typically require 10
- 20 hours of work per week. Currently 100% of the clinical
graduate students who request support are funded through one
of the above assistantships.
