Early Childhood Autism Program

FSU-ECAP provides three 3 types of services: individualized in-home therapy, parent training/consultation, and parenting workshops. All service levels use scientifically validated approaches for improving social skills, as well as language, academic, and daily living skills.

FSU-ECAP uses the Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills-Revised (ABLLS-R) and the Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VB-MAPP) to assess each child. Your child's programming is individually developed using the results of these assessments and implemented using discrete-trial training, natural-environment training, pivotal response training, and an analysis of his/her verbal behavior. Our therapist will work with you and your child to assure a fun, effective, and motivating learning environment. Functional assessments and analyses will be conducted to determine the function of any maladaptive behaviors the child emits, and will be used to design individualized behavior reduction protocols.

Regardless of the level of involvement by FSU-ECAP, we focus on teaching you how to use ABA to teach your children essential skills. Children with developmental disabilities often require repeated exposure to learn a new skill and "therapy" needs to occur throughout the day.
